Agroha heritage

Archaeology, pilgrimage and the community’s cultural memory.

One place, distinct histories

Agroha, in Haryana’s Hisar district, includes an archaeological mound that preserves evidence of earlier settlement. The district administration describes excavated structures, coins, sculpture and terracotta objects.

Haryana’s archaeology department classifies Agroha as an early historic–medieval site and lists its excavation programme in 1978–1981. The archaeological mound and modern places of worship should not be treated as the same monument.
